Planning consent has been granted for an 89 unit residential scheme on the site of the present Kilburn Centre, currently part of the College of North West London.

The scheme includes the refurbishment of the existing 1903 college building, retaining many of its key internal architectural elements, to provide 28 private residential units. A mix of one, two and three bed family units, including duplex apartments, are planned.

The remainder of the site will be cleared and 64 additional new build units in four blocks, comprising a mix of private, shared ownership and affordable housing, will be constructed. Each block will have independent street-level access and will be directly linked to on-site car and cycle parking at lower ground floor level.

The new buildings have been designed in a modern style. Their scale and rhythm reflects that of the adjoining Victorian terraces and larger adjacent mansion blocks. Construction is due to start in 2006
