Qatar Convention Centre
We are a principal partner in the project to design a new convention centre as part of Education City in Doha. To be completed in 2008, the landmark building will be the largest convention centre in the Middle East, able to cater for up to 7,000 people in its three main halls. It will also provide a 2,500 seat theatre, an exhibition hall and banqueting facilities for major functions.
The building's conceptual design is by celebrated Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. He has incorporated a huge organic tree-like structure in the main façade, symbolizing the Sidra tree, emblem of the Qatar Foundation.
UK engineers Halcrow are the other principal partner.
