For a central London site adjacent to Euston Station, RHWL and MAKE have designed a scheme that will combine high quality flexible office space with warehousing. The project's two shimmering gold and silver buildings will provide approximately 26,000 sq m of B1 office accommodation and 4,800 sq m of B8 storage.
As well as creating an exemplar for environmental design in new offices, we are attempting to significantly re-engage the site with its urban context. To address this issue, the project provides for the enlargement and improvement of the existing landscaping to create a series of public, semi-public and private spaces organised around a communal ‘street’.
The external envelopes of the buldings use a system of interlocking anodised aluminium panels that provide solar shading and high levels of insulation. The panels will be finished in gold and silver, hence the shimmering, constantly changing elevation.
