No.1 St Paul's Square was the first step in our commitment to provide Liverpool with a set of buildings that sit easily within the city’s heritage. It formed part of the first phase of our work on the new Central Business District for the city, carried out in the context of a wider masterplan, and provides 13,000 sq m of Grade A office space.
Like the other buildings we have designed for the project, No.1 is intended to be seen from every angle. There are no forgotten or neglected rear elevations and entrances are set squarely in the centre of the principal façades. Symmetry is important, and the red sandstone used is reminiscent of the material heritage of Liverpool and its very bedrock.
