Plans for a 34 storey tower focused on the creation of highly sustainable living space with in-house amenities on a tight urban site between two railway lines. Surrounding structures mean that the lowest floors would not have access to a view, so these areas are intended for shops, cafes and other facilities, such as a library and a health club. The higher floors have access to some of the best views in London.
To take advantage of the aspect, generous glazing is desirable for all the living spaces, which include private and social housing. We minimized the energy cost of this feature by introducing moving walls that can be used to seal each window space after dark: heavily insulated storey high shutters that slide easily into place.
