Norwich Riverside

Regeneration masterplan for Norwich City FC, including a revitalised stadium with 2 new stands and improved facilities funded by a new 750-unit residential development alongside the river Wensum and 150-bed hotel. Providing luxury as well as affordable housing in new and refurbished buildings, the aim was to create a heart for the area revolving around public spaces. An important part of our approved masterplan has been to ensure an innate flexibility so that the area is able to develop organically.

RHWL’s competition winning vision for regenerating Stoke-on-Trent is to repair the fractured heart of this historic city and unite its past with its future. By connecting people, spaces and activities, a platform will be created for commercial and cultural regeneration that builds upon the cities character and strengths as well as its potential. Craftsmanship and skills of the area will be explored, focusing on creating spaces in which people interact rather than pass through. Ultimately, the CBD will deliver 150,000m² of mixed use development.

Regent Quarter Masterplan
Subpages
Regent Quarter is P&O Estates’ regeneration scheme for 4 city blocks east of London’s Kings Cross station. RHWL developed the 63,000m² masterplan which provides a mix of homes, offices, shops and hotel. We are also lead architect on 2 of the blocks. The variety of existing building types on this former 19th Century industrial site led us to restore the original buildings and carefully insert new ones. New pedestrian routes have opened up the district, linking newly created courtyards with surrounding streets.

The New Bailey Commercial Quarter Masterplan – for client Muse Developments – links Deansgate through Spinningfields into Salford central station and Chapel Street. It proposes over 200,000m² of mixed use development. Contained within a wider regeneration masterplan for Central Salford, it includes significant residential development with a riverside park setting as well as a new commercial focus around a transport hub. Linking major existing public spaces with new development and public realm, it creates a vibrant and accessible alternative to Manchester’s existing business core.

Pall Mall Liverpool
Subpages
RHWL, on behalf of client English Cities Fund, has been involved firstly through design input into the overall Pall Mall Masterplan, and secondly as lead designer in the re-creation of Liverpool’s Central Business District St Paul’s Square. In total, St Paul’s Square provides 33,000m² of offices, 4,700m² of residential space and 1,500m² of retail space. Fundamental to our approach was a commitment to providing Liverpool with buildings that complement the city’s built heritage. As a result symmetry plays an important role in the conception of the buildings, which are designed to be seen from every angle.
